Unplug from technology at home

It’s really difficult to completely unplug technology at home, its become a key part of our families. Whether its ordering the supermarket shopping or checking how to do quadratic equations with your 13 year old, our iPads, tablets and phone are often in regular use in the evenings and weekends.

A really small change that has had a big difference in my life was turning off the notifications on my emails. Previously each time I opened my iPad and saw that i had a new email I felt I should just check what is was. Sometimes it was a personal email but on numerous occasions it would be a work email that I would then start thinking about or responding too - even though it could wait to the next day.

For me, turning off the notifications reduces the temptation to check my emails and means I spend more of my home time with my family.
