"This year is a little different of course. With commutes now feeling like a distant memory for many of us, you might be thinking ‘Cycle to…Who? What? Where? Day’. It’s 2020, and we’re embracing the unknown. Rather than swapping your commute, we’re asking you to ride anywhere, for any reason and with anyone. It’s still Cycle to Work Day, but with a new twist!
Whether you’ve still got a commute or not, you can get involved. This year, joining in with Cycle to Work Day means trying something different. Whether it’s early morning exercise, leaving the car on the drive as you nip to the shops, or going for a socially distanced cycle with friends and family. You might even be able to squeeze in a quick lunch-break ride. Whatever journey you’re planning on Thursday 6th August 2020, get on your bike!
Joining in with the big day is simple. Just hop on your bike, log your journey on Love to Ride and inspire others to get involved alongside you.
We want to see everyone saddling up. Whether it’s been days, or years since you last rode a bike. So, dust off your old bicycle, borrow a friend’s or hire a Santander Cycle for a few hours.
We also want to see your cycling selfies, bike ride views and journey logs across social media. It’s all in the name of spreading the joy of cycling across the nation. With so many great benefits to health, wellbeing and the environment, sharing your experience could inspire others to get pedalling. Simply post your photos with the hashtag #CycletoWorkDay.
We’ll be busy posting and sharing Cycle to Work Day updates before, during and after the big day. You can keep up-to-date and get involved on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Tune into the radio on Thursday 6th August, and you may even hear a few updates and shoutouts throughout the day."

Access a £50 voucher towards the cost of getting it back on the road.
Available for up to two cycles per household.
Cycling is a great low cost, low carbon means of transport. This scheme aims to encourage more people in England to choose cycling as an alternative to private cars and public transport, particularly while social distancing measures are in place.
Apply for a unique voucher code in just a few minutes. All you need to do is:
Pick a repairer from our approved list of mechanics and repair shops – a map of participating repair businesses is available below. You’ll need to check with them that they have capacity to fix your cycle.
Register some straightforward details about you and your bike under Register as a cyclist
We will email you a code, which you’ll need to sign back in to receive your voucher. Once you’ve received your voucher, you can take your cycle to your nominated cycle repair business and receive £50 off the cost of the repair.
Please note that not all repairs will be eligible for the scheme and that, as active travel is a devolved matter, participation is only available to residents in England. Visit the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish government websites for information on active travel elsewhere in the UK and please check the full terms and conditions for applicants .
